For over 40 years, Ahoghill Playgroup has been embedded in hearts of the Ahoghill local community! From our beginnings in the Old School House, we have served multiple generations of families from the village as well as new one.
We encourage a supportive environment for children to grow and mature in order to make the transition from home to school.
With Daily sessions from 9.00am to 11:30 am, we stimulate the children through a balanced mix of structured play, stories and fun activities.
I am the Playgroup Leader I worked in the playgroup as a deputy before transitioning into the leader role. When I’m not nurturing young minds, you will find me in my garden tending to young seedlings. Growing, learning and thriving both in the classroom and in the garden! I enjoy the chaos of my three dogs, all while sneaking in some chocolate-because let’s face it, it’s the secret to survival!!
I am the Deputy Leader at Ahoghill Playgroup. With over five years of experience, I am dedicated to creating a positive, engaging environment for children.
I work closely with our team to plan fun, stimulating activities that promote development and foster curiosity and independence. One of my favourite parts of this role is seeing the joy on children’s faces as they reach milestones. I also love using music to enhance learning through singing, dancing, and playing instruments. Outside of playgroup, I enjoy running, baking, and spending time with my family.
I am an assistant at Ahoghill Playgroup. My role is to provide a safe environment and to create activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development. I love working with the children and seeing them make new friends and grow during their time in the setting. In my spare time I enjoy socialising with my friends and taking my dog Milly on walks, our favourite place to go is the beach.
I am an assistant in Ahoghill Playgroup with many years of experience. My role involves planning and creating a safe, caring, child centred environment for young minds to reach their full potential. When I’m not in playgroup I like to go for picnics and long walks on the beach. I also love to read books, one of my favourite places to spend time is at the library.
We hang up our coats, and add our names to the register.
We make pictures and paint.
We build with the blocks and the Lego
We have our very own kitchen to play in and have lots of dressing up clothes
We can read from the the books in the library.
We can use the special sized toilets and wash our hands.
We promote and encourage an awareness of the environment by learning about plants and animals. We also encourage personal health and hygiene by using break time as an opportunity to talk naturally and informally with the children about healthy foods and healthy eating habits.
Children are encouraged to develop acceptable standards of hygiene. Opportunities for this include our daily routine e.g. washing hands after toileting, before eating and also after
messy play times.
During the COVID situation we were unable to facilitate our usual Open Days.
So, the next best thing was to show you around with a virtual Tour. It’s still relevant so we hope you enjoy it and that it gives you a taste of our Playgroup.

They can be contacted through the management committee email listed below.

The committee consists of volunteer parent/guardians who meet once every other month to discuss policies fund raising and activities. We enjoy a laugh and a cuppa so why not come along to see what we are all about- for information about our meetings please contact the management committee email or ask one of our staff members for further information.
